By trying to be "good" and do good things, I have alienated myself from Christ. It is by grace that we are saved. Being justified by law (obeying with the idea that it will be enough) separates us from Christ. Only by His grace are we "good enough." "The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love."
Lesson learned and prayer answered: Ask God to show himself through His word. He WILL! (Why do I doubt?!) He wants me to know Him and love Him. It is His desire that I know Him and love Him. It is my desire to know Him and love Him. It is my desire to serve Him. It is my desire to have such a change in my life because of my love for my Savior that Satan can't help but notice. Yes, that's scary. Very scary. It scares me to the core of my being, BUT God is on my side. He will not give me more than I can handle. He will provide a way out. He will be my shelter and my strong tower.
